God Gives a Solomon

Who is Solomon? He is known as the wisest and richest man to have ever lived. He was God's personal gift of redemption to David and Bathsheba; a living example to them of how much God restores his blessing and goodness despite poor human choices.

In my own life, I can look back and see that despite my mistakes God would give me a Solomon; A personal example of his grace and blessing that demonstrated his lavish redemption ever at work. My mistakes are far different from David or Bathseba's but God has shown me it is not the kind of mistakes made that make the difference; It is the kind of God I serve who does.

Solomon's are not about me or anyone else but God and his glory being that much more revealed through the gaping holes of failures so that it is no longer the failure I, or others, see anymore but the heart of the Father who is full of grace and mercy.

Two of the best Solomons I have ever received are my precious daughters. In them I find a constant memorial of God's goodness. When I see them I see the hand of God.

I knew we all make mistakes and we all fall short of the glory of God but what I didn't realize for a long time is that those are exactly the times God chooses to give Solomons because that is the kind of God he is. He delights and desires to give his children good things especially when we have made mistakes and goodness seems so far out of reach.

"But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth."

Psalms 86:15 KJV

"The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy."

Psalms 103:8 KJV

"For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee."

Psalms 86:5 KJV

"Let Israel hope in the Lord : for with the Lord there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption."

Psalms 130:7 KJV

"But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus."

Ephesians 2:4-7 KJV

I also realized something even more profound. God's best Solomon to me (and all of humanity) is his Son Jesus through which we have redemption when we recieve it through faith. For me that means God's best Solomon has been a part of my life since I was six years old!

"Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:"

Colossians 1:12-14 KJV

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;"

Ephesians 1:3, 6-7 KJV

What about you? Having read this where do you see the Solomon's in your life? I guarantee they are there because no matter the day or the mistake, there is always a Solomon given and a permenant Solomon in the arms of Jesus.
