Eye of the Storm

Have you ever stared in wonder at the satellite images of a massive storm system? There is something so mesmerizing about the marshmallow white swirl on the screen. It is hard to fathom that underneath those fluffy looking clouds is a raging storm full of deadly wind and water.

Right now I am in a storm. One of the largest storms of my life. It is not a storm you will ever read about in the news because it is a different kind of storm but it holds just as much power. There have been many times fear and mental anguish have rushed upon me as powerfully as storm surges on a Florida coast during a hurricane.

But in the most unlikely place I have found my greatest peace.

Here in the eye of the storm with everything swirling around me at a rate of speed too fast for me to keep up with, I feel calm. It is here in the blur that one thing sticks out to me clearly.

God is with me.

So many times in my life I was able to say AFTER the storm "God was with me" but now?

Now God is teaching me to say in the midst of something beyond my control that it is well with my soul. I don't know what the storm will look like once the eye has passed and the second half has overtaken me. I don't know how long the storm will last but I do know it will pass. I don't know what lies ahead but this I know with all my heart; if God has sheltered and lead me this far, He will lead me through the rest of the way.

Are you in the middle of a storm in your life? Do you wonder if God hears you? Do you doubt that he sees you?

I am here to tell you he does! And I can say this as I am currently standing drenched and battered from the storm I am in. He is with you. He will lead you through. Just take a hold of his hand and follow His lead. If you don't have the strength to walk then let Him carry you. If you have let go of His hand and are lost, just call for Him because I promise you He is always within reach and will pull you to himself. No matter where you are in the storm, God is with you.
