Called to Fight

With everything going on, it is hard to focus...it's like picking a specific color in a spinning kaleidoscope. Am I (Erin) the only one who feels overwhelmed by all the needs, suffering and hate that have been on warp speed overload this year?

I easily get caught trying to carry every pain and burden I come across and being squashed by the weight and then I end up not doing what God has called me too let alone thriving as who He made me to be. Then I struggle with feeling guilty when I don't carry EVERY burden I hear or see. Anybody relate? πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ

Here's what God showed me in my struggle and I hope it brings encouragement and courage to you too!

Every believer is only called to fight one part of the spiritual battle we daily face. (Ephesians 6:11-12) God didn't call one believer to be General, lieutenant, commander, private etc. He calls some believers to the left flank, some to the right, some to the medic tent, some to the command post and some to charge forth. In short, we all have our parts to play!

Jesus himself said, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Matthew 11:28‭-‬30

How was Jesus' yoke easy and burdens light? Because He did the will of His Father and didn't get entangled in anything that wasn't. I thought of it this way, if I'm busy trying to run someone elses' part for them, I can’t focus on my own tasks. Of course there will be times I come across a wounded person that needs help and it is up to me to care about them. But in helping them and getting them to safety, I still must keep my heart, head and eyes primarily focused on finishing the responsibility God has given me and the part of the battle God has called me to fight.

Let's ask God what He wants us to do. Let's ask Him to show us how to make a difference as the Beautifully Original Lord Directed people He made us to be. I believe we will find we are more effective, peace filled Christians! ❀
