The Last Thing I Expected
Standing in the Dollar General checkout line, the last thing I expected to witness was a prayer time.
The lady in front of my daughters and I expressed a struggle to the cashier. Instead of the usual sympathetic platitudes most people would have offered, the cashier boldly asked the woman if she could pray over her.
What a beautiful and powerful moment we witnessed. The prayer was saturated in the sweet Spirit of the Lord.
My only regret? I had not joined in!!
After the lady left and we came up to the counter I told the cashier I admired her courage, and she so humbly replied,
“That is not me by nature, but I prayed for boldness and God helps me be bold.”
Her simple act of bold faith inspired me, and I hope you!
It reminded me that boldness, and any good fruitfulness I want grown in my life, begins with a seed of faith filled obedience planted by a prayer.
Boldness is not reserved for fearless warriors. Boldness is for the Esthers, Gideons, Ruths, Moseses, Joshuas, Calebs, Josephs, Marys, and many more whose ordinary lives took extraordinary turns because they chose to obey the Lord’s call even when what lay ahead could cost them dearly (and in many cases did). Yet what they gained was far more than what they lost. None of them was looking to be called out and used the way God did but all demonstrated boldness equal to that of a mighty man of war like David.
What does that mean for me today? Boldness means living a Beautifully Original Lord Directed life, without apology and in full assurance that God’s got me, and He will never let me down.
Boldness means praying for someone in the middle of the Dollar General checkout line regardless of what people may think (or joining in that prayer).
Will you join me in praying for boldness?
