Thursday Tippity Tip: Easy Ways to Give Your Home A Fresh Makeover!

Getting a home to look nice and amazing can feel rather daunting and expensive but it doesn't have to be! Here are several tippity tips that will have you well on your way to making your home a comfortable showstopper. 😁Stick with neutral wall color paint and furniture. This makes it easy to change around your decor for every season because the pizazz comes in with the kind of decorations you use. This is especially great if you love channeling your creativity through interior decoration! For summer and spring, bright flowers, pillows, hand towels, pictures, and throws brighten up the rooms! For fall or winter, cozy rich toned throws, pillows, and soft rugs add warmth and color. One way to save money is to buy or find couch or chair pillows and sew slipcovers for them. Even if you have never sewn a stitch in your life, if you ever wanted to try your hand at sewing a simple pillow cover would be a great start! If you have never sewn a stitch in your life and you're quite happy keeping it that way, 😉  you could buy beautiful fleece and make a pillow "blanket" by cutting strips and tying those strips together just like you would a no-sew blanket that stores like Joann's sell around Christmas. That style of slipcover would be great for winter or fall! You could also do that style with cotton fabrics as well but those would be more prone to the strips un-ravelling. Or you could just pay somebody to do all the work for you (like my mom or me 😂)  but then where's the fun in that? The best part about doing it yourself is being able to pick the fabric and style you want.Mirrors are another good way to add elegance to a room. They are also great for reflecting light and for making a room look bigger with very little effort.Live house plants or real looking fake ones are inexpensive yet beautiful decor that look a fresh and light year round. They add color and life to every room you put them in. There is something so calming about having a part of nature in your home and an upside to having real house plants is that they help to purify the air. You can always spruce up a room with a beautiful vase of flowers or a lush green house plant in a matter of minutes. If you decide to paint a room with a bold color like a vibrant green or sunshine yellow, you should still stick with more neutral furniture like white, grey, or even black would work. Just make sure pictures, rugs, throws, and pillows are all a neutral color because that will help make the room pop with vibrant cheeriness!Happy decorating!!P.S. The picture on this post shows the make over we gave my parent's living room. The wall that is brown is one that we would have also painted cream except we got tired of painting walls haha! So we decided to make it an accent wall. It just shows you one of many possibilities!
