A New Song

I waited patiently for the Lord ; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord .

Psalms 40:1-3

As I stood there in the dining room resting my eyes on the world outside the large window I felt a joy rising in my heart. With every word of praise that left my lips my hands lifted higher in worship and I saw the sun break through the gathering storm clouds. Sunbeams cast a radiant glow around the entire house as if heaven itself was smiling down.

As the house was enveloped in light God revealed a piece of his redemption at work in my life. He showed me I was standing on the ashes of all my dreams that had been broken and burned by the choices of another and yet hallelujahs of praise were resurrected from those very ashes. That day God truly put a new song of victory in my heart!

That song poured forth louder than my fears, louder than my shame, louder than my mistakes and louder than my accusers. It was a holy experience to praise God while standing in the very place where darkness once lurked and deep pain abounded. So may this prayer born out of the four songs** I sang that day bring a new song of victory to your heart.

My Father,

You have no rival

You have no equal

Now and forever God you reign

You are good and you’re never going to let me down

You are the mountain where I run

The Fountain I drink from

So I’m going to sing in the middle of the storm

And raise a Hallelujah

Because Heaven comes to fight for me

And when you don’t move the mountains I am needing you to move

Or part the water I wish I could walk through

I will trust in you

Because I want what you want Lord

And nothing less

Amen
