Thursday Tippity Tip: 5 Ways to Leave Stress Off the Menu This Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving should be a time of fun and fellowship but many people see it as a stressful time full of food preperations and work, work, work. Hopefully these 5 tippity tips give you permission to just let go of any pressure you may feel to measure up to Thanksgiving traditions! It is more important to celebrate with those around you than trying to become the next viral Thanksgiving pinterest board. You will be thankful you did. 😉

  1. Use paper or plastic for big gatherings. I can't remember the last time I even noticed if the dishware was real or the other. Just wasn't important in the scheme of things
  2. Keep the food assortment simple. All the fixings are nice but your stomach is only so big. 😉 Stick with main family favorites and save yourself the extra trouble. Trust me, everyone will be satisfied with a simple yet delicious feast because it is about quality not quantity.
  3. Cook/prep some of the dishes the day before. Pre-cook the yams so that dish is already half way done which means it will take less time to cook on Thanksgiving or prep the cranberry sauce in a serving bowl so it can just be easily set out when needed.
  4. Instead of making the whole meal yourself (unless you LOVE cooking), have people bring a side dish and/or dessert. This eliminates you having to cook everything, includes others in the process, and cuts down on a fridge that ends up more stuffed than the turkey.
  5. Focus on the fellowship. It is easy to get all stressed and in a tizzy making sure the feast is fancy and fantastic. But seriously, it is more important to just enjoy spending the time with friends and family than worrying if the stuffing is possibly dry or the cranberry sauce too tart.
