High Ways
God has been teaching so much about Himself and His perspective. He recently helped me go deeper in my understanding of Isaiah 55:8-11
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. Isaiah 55:8-11
I used to think when God says His ways are higher than my ways and His thoughts than my thoughts, He was saying it much like a parent might pat the head of their child when trying to let them know they are not quite mature enough to understand a particular thing.
But that isn’t what those verses mean at all!
In context, they are God saying that even though His ways are higher than mine, He will not leave me in the misty flats of confusion or my lesser understanding.
He knows my limits and yet always desires to bring me up to His higher ways and thoughts.
The words He plants in my heart will in due season mature and prosper even if that means certain revelations must germinate for longer periods of time before they bud into tangible understanding.
I’ve known God is not the author of confusion and wants me to know His heart, but His revelations to me concerning the Isaiah verses really boosted my faith!
It helped assure me that when the time is right, God will reveal what He wants me to know, when I need to know. Not a moment sooner or later.
I simply need to keep trusting God will be faithful to complete the good work He began in me and if I continue to press into Him, His high ways will become my ways.
